An elderly man has died after getting thrown from a boat in the Burnett River.
Emergency crews were called to a location off Strathdees Rd at Rubyanna around 11am today.
It’s believed two men in their 80s had been out fishing, when they were tossed from their moving vessel.
Nigel Jones from QAS says passers-by pulled one of the men from the water, and took him to a nearby boat club where they attempted to resuscitate him.
“On our arrival, one of the gentlemen was in cardiac arrest, post some time being submerged in the water.
“We performed CPR for a period of time but unfortunately that man has passed away.”
The other man managed to swim back to his boat and return to shore.
He was taken to Bunderberg Base Hospital in a stable condition with some cuts to his arm.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
