The system has started tracking south and the rain is expected to ease into showers throughout Wednesday.

Police are asking motorists to use common sense while driving on the wet roads.

Inspector Gareth Bosley says unfortunately accidents tend to happen more in wet conditions.

“Slow down, drive to the conditions, allow further distance between you and the car in front and if your visibility is reduced pull over where it’s safe to do so and wait for the rain to pass,” he says.

Three serious incidents occurred on the region’s roads on Tuesday.
