Four people were rescued from floodwaters during Wednesday night’s downpour.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Scotland and Eastgate Streets in Bundaberg East around 6:45pm finding three people in trouble.
A short time later another motorist was stuck at Qunaba on the corner of Farquhars Road and Seaview Road.
All involved weren’t injured.
Meantime, a man was taken to hospital around 6:20pm after a lightning strike hit near his car on Bourbong Street.
Most places around Bundaberg recorded about 100mm of rain since 9am Wednesday with the bulk of it falling within a couple of hours overnight.
Flash flooding was reported in several suburbs including Kepnock, Bargara, Gin Gin, Alloway and Moore Park.
Senior meteorologist Christie Johnson said the widespread heavy rain is over, but a trough could still bring showers and thunderstorms on Thursday.
“Rainfall totals are mostly expected to be in about the 20-40mm range today through an area north of Mount Isa to Bundaberg with possible high rainfall totals around 50-80mm with thunderstorms,” she said.
