The months of speculation and rumour have finally been confirmed by Rockstar Games who have announced that it is in fact true that “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition” will be released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
This GTA title will feature across-the-board upgrades including major improvements to the graphics while giving a massive overhaul to the gameplay to make it more in line with modern iterations of the game.
Included in the definitive collection will be 3 of the most critically acclaimed and user-reviewed titles “Grand Theft Auto III,” “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” and “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas”. 3 of the best-selling games of their generations.
Although the aim is to bring the game to a modern audience with graphic improvements they claim that they want to “maintain the classic look and feel of the originals”.
The original versions of the classic titles will be pulled from their “digital shelves” at online retailers with the new edition expected to arrive in the first half of 2022.
